Fatigue Management

There are a number of fatigue management checks that are done as part of rostering people to events, and are also available within reports.

Some of these can be customised (as below), and some are built into the system;

These are designed to give your operations team warnings whenever fatigue may become an issue, so they’re able to actively manage those risks and minimise the potential impacts - ie. through additional breaks, down-time after shifts, etc.

Examples of this are;

  • Number of hours a person is rostered to, for an individual shift

  • Number of hours of rest scheduled between shifts

  • Minimum hours of rest which is needed across a period (ie. so at least 24 hours if rest/down-time is required after working 5 days straight)

  • Number of hours rostered across a number of days (ie. 45 hours of work rostered, across 5 days), so as to manage the overall hours being worked, and balance work requirements across the team

Others fatigue related checks include;

  • Distance checks, warning when staff & volunteers are rostered too far away from their home, to minimise associated fatigue due to the travel required before and after shifts, and suggesting that accommodation may be required to minimise fatigue on the people rostered

  • Distance checks with a staff member's preferences, warning when the shift is outside the area a person prefers to travel to (i.e., 50km away from their home).
