There a a number of different 'statuses' which a person can be set to, each representing a different stage for a volunteer or staff member within an organisation. They can be changed as needed at any time - eg. An 'Active' person can be set to 'Pending' at any stage, and likewise an 'Archived' person can be switched back to 'Active' at any time.
Enquiry
This status represents a person who has enquired about joining as either a volunteer or a staff member, but have not yet been begun the application process. They will not be able to login to the system until they are set to 'Active' and have their account enabled. Those marked 'Enquiry' are listed along-side 'Active' staff in reports, unless they have been filtered out specifically (eg. when someone is searching for 'Active' staff & volunteers).
Pending
This represents a person whom is not yet an 'Active' volunteer or staff member, but working through the application process. They will not be able to login to the system until they are set to 'Active', and have their account enabled. Those marked 'Pending' will be displayed along-side 'Active' staff in reports, unless specifically separated by status (eg. when filtered by 'Active' staff & volunteers vs 'Pending' staff & volunteers).
They will be sent reminders & notifications from the system in the same way active staff are sent emails.
Active
This represents a person whom is an active volunteer or staff member, and can log into the system if their account is enabled. They can be added to the roster for events, and will be emailed notifications, reminders, etc based on their preferences & group settings.

Staff and volunteers placed 'On leave' are temporarily archived, until their 'date returning from leave' arrives. The person 'On leave' will be emailed 7 days prior to their return date, and again on the date they are due to return from leave. They will not receive reminders & notifications from the system.
On the date they are due to return from leave, the person's status will automatically be switched back to 'Active'.
