If any of the dependent skills/qualifications are missing or expire, this it will result in the related skill/qualifications to also become being listed as ‘Competencies required’ rather than being ‘current’‘Current’.

Any that have expired dependencies will be listed as ‘Expired' - this allows the person rostering staff, or making changes to make an appropriate decision based on the skills someone has (which have simply expired and may need re-certification/renewal), vs skills that may need to be taught in their entirety (ie. the difference between a half-day renewal/re-certification, vs a 5 day course).

In some cases, a qualification might have a dependency whereby alternate requirements need to be factored in, for example;

Example 1;

For a person to work as a ParamedicFirst Aider, you might require them to have;

• A working with children check

• Drivers licencePolice Check

• And, any one of the following approved qualifications (taken from: https://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/education/qualifications.aspx );

  • Diploma of Paramedical Science

  • Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance)

  • Advanced Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance)

  • etc

Equivalent qualifications

In some cases, there might be an equivalent qualification to one you have already setup in the system - for example;

Your organisation might require you to have the unit of competency “Apply first aid” (HLTFA0311A Apply first aid).

The following however, might also be recognised by your organisation as being equivalent;

• A current HLTAID003 Provide first aid

• A current certificate of registration under the Medical Board of Australia as a medical practitioner

• A current APRHA certificate of registration as a nurse or midwife

• etc

In order to setup this recognition, the following setups should be completed;

• Setup each of the equivalent qualifications which your staff might have

• Edit the “main” qualification which the others are equivalent to - eg. the “Apply first aid” certificate, and enter the other qualifications in the “Equivalent to” box;

The above requirement requires the following;

• Police Check

• And, any one of the following combinations;

  • Basic First Aid AND Supplement for Advanced First Aid

  • Advanced First Aid Certificate

The above combination requires staff to have a police check and effectively an advanced first-aid certificate or the supplement skill/qualification.

If the Police Check is no longer a requirement (or handled in some other way), this can be changed as follows;
